Henna body art is an ancient art form that is increasingly popular today, done for fun or for wedding celebrations and other special occasions. Henna is an all-natural, fun, safe, and easy way to embellish your body with beautiful–and temporary– designs. Henna art lasts about 1 – 3 weeks, gradually fading over time.
Can you imagine trying henna for yourself?
Join us for a relaxing evening and learn about the history, traditions, and application techniques of henna body art. In this upcoming beginner henna workshop for adults and teens, an experienced henna artist will guide participants to plan a henna design and apply that design to a hand, arm, foot – or a friend in the class. Participants will be encouraged to approach their henna design in a way that feels most comfortable to them. Whether it’s sketching ideas ahead of time, copying one of the samples, emulating a traditional regional henna style, or just jumping in and improvising, an experienced instructor will be on hand to answer all your henna questions and offer assistance. You’ll find that as the lines flow smoothly from the tip of the bottle, it’s easy to lose yourself in the emerging design, whatever your method.
There will also be practice materials so participants can experiment with henna paste before applying the henna on skin. Don’t worry if you feel unsure of your drawing abilities, as the process will be very step-by-step and inclusive of everyone. As part of the class, participants will go home with their own original henna design of their own work, and maybe even a design from the instructor as well!
Open to adults and teens, age 13 and up, reservations required. $25 includes all materials. Kits and additional materials will also be available for purchase.
