Wordsmiths and visual artists of all ages are invited to submit works for a new exhibit that will be shown during February in the Upper Walls Gallery at Artbeat as part of Capitol Square’s annual Romancing The Square celebration.
Hearts On Fire: a Celebration of Passions is an exhibit that showcases the many ways we can impact the world through our hopes, dreams, and desires.
What lights your spark? Is it something you do or dream of doing? Make or want to make? Is it a person, a pet, a place, or a thing? If there is something you are passionate about, you are invited to submit any of the following:
Poem or Essay – must be submitted as a word document. For young children, a jpg of handwritten or illustrated work will be considered.
Painting, Drawing, Photograph, Collage, or Mixed Media piece – must be submitted as a jpeg. Actual size of work must be between 9” x 12” and 24” x 36. If 3-D, must be able to be hung. A very limited number of sculptures or miniature works (under 6”) will be accepted.
Submission deadline: January 28, 2016. Submissions should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org, with “Hearts On Fire” in the subject line. All submissions must include the following information: title of piece; description, including size of artwork and materials used; name, physical address, age (if under 21). Not all submissions will be accepted for display. Visual works that are selected must be ready to hang.
Hearts On Fire will be on display throughout the month of February, and the public will be invited to vote for their favorites during Romancing The Square on February 13th.
