WANTED: ALIVE – Orangutan
A Summer Art Adventure
Learn to Draw and Paint Animals
Collect a coloring poster of nine endangered animals and learn fascinating facts about each one. The poster will help you learn how to draw all the animal faces; our featured studio project will be making dot paintings on canvas for a beautiful finished piece to hang on your wall or give as a gift. Project cost $20

PLUS, every week, you can enter a drawing to win a free sand painting activity in the studio!

Orangutans are a keystone species and they are critically endangered due to deforestation and habitat destruction. Orangutans are very important to their ecosystem because their fruit-eating and subsequent seed-dispersing helps shape and preserve tropical rain forests. As they disappear, thousands of other animals and plant species in fragile tropical rain forest habitats disappear with them.

Butterflies provide a wide range of environmental benefits, including pollination and pest control and they support a wide range predators such as bird and bats. Many species of butterflies are now endangered due to climate change and the destruction of their food sources. For instance, the Monarch butterfly has become critically endangered because their food source, milkweed, has been largely destroyed by industrial agriculture.
