Left on Pearl: Women Takeover 888 Memorial Drive
Capitol Theatre Saturday, March 17 6:45 PM
In 1971, hundreds of women seized a Harvard building and declared it a Women’s Center. The ensuing 10-day standoff with local authorities provides a timely examination of the power of protest to achieve much-needed social change.
This event is a fundraiser for the 888 Women’s History Project, which produced the film. Donations are tax deductible and will be used for film festival expenses, music rights, an interactive study guide, and for production/distribution of the DVDs.
This screening is sponsored by Artbeat Creativity Store & Studio, whose owner, Jan Whitted, was part of the takeover.
A Q&A session will follow the screening.
