The Art of Pysanky Ukrainian Egg Decorating

March 23, 2017 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

YES! You can find egg decorating kits, dyes, wax, tools and more at Artbeat.

With Spring and Easter now on the horizon, it’s time to think about decorating eggs. The Ukrainian word “pysanky” can be translated to “writing”, and this art form involves writing on real eggs with wax and dipping them in successive dyes.  This wax relief method, similar to batik, creates extraordinary designs and magnificent works of art.
Join us to view a short movie that explains a history of the craft and demonstrates the process.  We’ll have supplies on hand so you can try the method yourself. This will be a unique and fascinating experience, for adults and children age 10 and older (younger children may come, but hands-on demo is for adults and older children only).

Pysanky kits, dyes, wax and tools available for purchase.
